Welcome to SEMKA Karate
Samurai Enlighten Mushin Karate Academy (SEMKA) is a group of Karate clubs based in Sussex teaching traditional Wado. We have clubs in Horsham, Crawley and Broadbridge Health under two main club names: Horsham Karate Club and Bushi-No-Me-Wado-Kai.
SEMKA Karate clubs have many classes for adults, children aged 5 to 7 and children aged above 7. We welcome complete beginners through to the very experienced wishing to change styles, who have moved into the Sussex area, or who are returning to martial arts from a break.
All clubs are under the direction of Paul Elliott 6th Dan (photo right) who has been teaching traditional Wado-Ryu to Karate students since 1980 & has trained since 1972. Paul has a wide range of skills and qualifications that compliment his Karate knowledge. Read more about Paul here >
SEMKA is a proactive and full member of British Wadokai, under the direction of Gary Swift 7th Dan Kyoshi. British Wadokai is itself a full member of the English Karate Federation, the officially recognised National Governing Body for Karate in England by the World Karate Federation, which in turn is the only world Karate body recognised by the International Olympic Committee. Therefore, all students who join any of our clubs have direct access to training and competition opportunities to the very top of sport Karate. If following a traditional route we also offer access to many interesting courses with recognised masters throughout the year.

All our Instructors have attended and qualified on various courses including First Aid, Coaching Children, Protecting Children, Safe Training and Karate Teaching Skills. Each club and all the Instructors have Martial Arts Insurance for professional indemnity and public liability including member to member liability.
